University of Alabama Huntsville - English
Morton Hall
I taught Freshman Composition on Tuesday/Thursday evenings for approximately seven semesters in a row. I learned a lot. I hope my students did. I enjoyed it mostly because EH 102 involved the reading of literature: short stories and poems. Now that they've changed the curriculum
and EH 102 will be strictly an \"argumentative\" writing course
I don't think I can maintain an interest in teaching it. We shall see. I have completed two extra (beyond MA requirements) graduate classes in American Literature
one with Dr. Laurel Bollinger
and one with Dr. Joe Conway
and might be interested in teaching that at the 200 level.

I did absolutely everything to insure that the department ran smoothly for faculty and students. Sometimes I was successful.

I must give thorough consideration as to what to devote my energies to next. I am
at the moment
memorizing some lines for a short film being created by local filmmaker Melissa Therell; after that I want to create a short film myself in the Ken Burns style about my mother
since I have so many photos and documents from her life. Some of my little films can be viewed at this link (which I was unable to put in the official \"link\" section for some reason): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC74q4FuR7ezVvI96d7vjKyg

I attended classes at The Actors Workshop on Boylston and Mass.Ave. for a few months
and was working on the part of Alma in Tennesee Williams's \"Summer and Smoke
\" when I sort of scared myself during an improvisation exercise (I started fervently praying because those memorized words were the only ones in my head). Somewhat embarrassed (because I considered myself beyond religion)
and wanting to move out of the all-female rooming house I was living in (my parents were paying tuition as long as I remained \"pure
\") I dropped out and moved in with my boyfriend. It wasn't like my parents didn't know I was seeing him anyway. I did get a non-speaking (and non-paying) part in a children's production that year at the Charles Street Playhouse
and also joined a strange acoustic band
\"Woodsmoke
\" as the singer and harmonica player.
