Awesome
Patterson is cool. She is understanding when it comes to teaching non-science majors. Do the work and you will be fine.
Good
She expects the correct amount of work for a non major class. She is good at telling you what you need to do to pass.
Awesome
Professor Patterson is very straight forward. I would definitely take this course again. You will use clickers for earning attendance points. Each class you are given multiple choice questions and the more answered right gives you more extra credit points. Also there are other extra credit assignments that can yearn you 12 points. There are quizzes every week, homework every other week. Also the tests are pretty easy, she does not throw trick questions in her tests.
Awesome
Prof. Patterson is nice and she tries to make the lesson as fun as she can. You won't need the textbook but you will need the iClicker remote. She only covers what you need to know and she lets you out of class at least 5 mins early every day. I suggest you take down notes because her powerpoints are quite messy.
Poor
You won't learn a thing. Quizzes every week on what we didn't even learn.
Awesome
Patterson is a really kind professor, she truly cares about her students. Her class consist of tons of in class activities, and counts heavily towards your grade, however they're really simple, and so is the weekly homework. There are weekly quizzes given, but there is no reason to really stress because they don't count much towards your grade. The tests she gives are simple and she gives extra credit as well. I strongly recommend her class.
Good
Professor Patterson cares a lot. However, she's not the best at explaining the lessons. She'll give quizzes every week, over the material tackled in class. The tests were pretty tough and so was the assignment. Honestly, Chemistry is not an easy class. So you need to study. Despite of those, I'll take her class again.
Average
For those who were non-chemistry major class, Professor Patterson made it too confusing to follow, during lectures. She gets off to the topic easily. Her PowerPoints weren't helpful as well. Their were quizzes every week and the grading criteria is not at all clear. Also, the tests were always confusing and difficult to study with. She grades based on how she feels, not on what is the rubric. Overall, she's really nice but not a great professor.
Awesome
At first, I was very nervous to take chem because this wasn't my favorite HS course, but she was very sweet and helpful! Every week, we'd have a quiz, but they were pretty easy! This class is not difficult if you study, but it may be challenging if you skip class. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and would highly recommend this class!
Awesome
Although there are a lot of lectures, homeworks on Sapling are pretty simple. She drops the lowest quiz grade and the lowest exam grade from her record. For every topic she teaches, she provides a lot of resources. I'd take her again in a heartbeat.
Average
This isn't an easy A by any means, but she's built it up in such a way that if you show up and give it your all, you'll breeze through it. I suggest you put in work! It's easy to get an A or a B. Her lectures were tough, yet she gave plenty of opportunities for students to practice difficult subjects. She wants her students to succeed, so she really goes out of her way to assist us!
Good
Professor Patterson's class is a lecture-heavy one. There were post PowerPoints though which is good. I just think she's faster than any other Chemistry teacher who teaches CHEM1341. Also, the quizzes were more difficult than they need to be. Yes, she's very kind and likable. However, I feel like she focused on the easier stuff than what was actually in the homework and the exams.
Poor
She's isn't really the best professor. It's hard to understand her teaching methods because they're really confusing. She grades our quizzes super tough, and her tests are way too long. She talks in a slow pace and her PowerPoint presentations always seem incomplete. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend joining her class. She isn't too friendly and she's too intense for a beginner's class.
