I am a rising scholar in the field of African-American Studies/Cultural Studies. I earned my doctorate in Afro-American Studies (Literature and Cultural Studies) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I am interested in networking with other scholars in a variety of fields, not limited to higher education, English/literature, sociology, history, political science, and media studies.
My goals include publishing on the topics of African American artists and the construction of identities (black, male/female, etc.), race and mass media, race and the American film industry. I would also like to venture into higher education advising and counseling, with the long term goal of becoming dean or provost of a private institution.
Specialties: Literary studies; film studies; student mentoring and advising; American history 1600 to present; community-based learning; social change/social justice studies and action
