I am a graduate of the University of Buffalo (BA, MA, PhD). I have more than 20 years of experience as a college professor, academic program developer and administrator, Institutional Review Board director, and accreditation report writer. My research and writings have garnered national attention, including two national-level awards for my book, A Measure of Failure (SUNY Press). I am also known for incisive and engaging public talks.
I conduct research on and write about both K12 and higher education issues, focusing on educational policy, evaluation and methodological problems of measurement. I also study student motivation, educational technology and the social contexts of education reform efforts.
I have actively collaborated with K12 professionals to strengthen links between primary, secondary and post-secondary institutions. I work with public and non-profit organizations to build capacity, advocate for policy change, and offer both professional learning and evaluation services. Along with Agnes Zak-Moskal, I am Co-founder of NewEdu Consulting.
