Thankfully, the material was easy. Prof. Madhavrao is an amazing prof but he takes weeks to grade anything including exams. For most people, homework was graded differently. Something I had gotten right was wrong for others. Material was fairly easy, but grading was all over the place.
Poor
Professor Rao is a nice guy who cares about the class, but he just isn't very good at his job. The material isn't that hard and the lab is very easy. As long as you go to class you'll do fine.
Good
Although Materials lab depends more on your teacher assistant, Doctor Roa oversees everything. Be sure to join a good laboratory group on the first day or you'll be in a world of pain. The laboratory exercises are interesting and fun though. However, the writeups are very involved. Plan to spend a lot of time working on them and expect to be toughly graded.

Dr. Rao has a bad reputation because of his dry lectures (which they are), but he is a really loving professor who, in the end, seems to try to do what is best for his students. The materials are not heavy on math, which makes it difficult, but if you take the time to go through the long test reviews he shares, you should be fine! It was an amazing class overall!
Awful
Doctor Rao is by far the worst professor I've ever had. I've never had a professor whose teaching was as inadequate as his. He reads from the slides without adding more information. Also, attendance is a must even though the entire course is self-paced because he reads alone. Unfortunately, this is a lame excuse for a professor.
