Professor Hasan is the best teacher ever. His lectures were hilarious and very knowledgeable. He will explained concepts in an easily understandable way. In his class, exams were a fair game. So, class participation really matters. He truly cares about his students. He goes beyond during office hours by giving career tips and advise if it's your last semester. I will 100% recommend this professor to everyone.
Awesome
Professor Hasan cares about his students. He focuses on the useful and applicable aspects of econometrics, rather than on convoluted details. For example, he highlighted the importance of following past literature and using similar control variables. I found that the advice he imparted to us were very applicable while writing my ECON 490 thesis.
Awesome
I had ECON 425 with Emrul and it was my favorite course! It's a good mix of applied and theoretical. He emphasizes the intuitive and real-world meaning behind numbers and not just surface level understanding. Also, he made sure to include real life case studies and experiments which was really useful to learn about.
Awesome
Professor Hasan truly cares about his students. He takes the time and effort to make sure we understand the concepts. He made us work hard for our grades. However, he's always clear about what to expect on a test. I wish I'd taken more courses under him. I highly recommended his class.
Awesome
Doctor Hasan is enthusiastic and caring. He genuinely cares about students, respects mental-health, and makes up for lost lectures by doing them online. While he goes off on tangents, or tells irrelevant stories at times, still it's generally funny and added to the class atmosphere. Just remember that participation matters because of iclickers.

Prof. Hasan is the best prof I've had at UBC! He's very passionate about helping his students succeed. He even taught practical things that we can really use in our career. He gave us a great foundation for graduate courses and he helped me a lot with my 490 paper by giving econometrics ideas and new techniques.
Awesome
Professor Hasan is the best professor I have ever had during university. He is super clear on grading criteria, and gives amazing lectures. He makes you become interested in finance and economics. His investment class is super helpful in passing Chartered Financial Analyst level one exam. I recommend you to take his class and you will not regret it! He is truly inspirational!
I just took his Econ 102 class at UBC. I had a chance to review the MANY comments that were posted on Rate My Professors and Professors Directory, and it seems that most comments were posted by the same person. Probably him, given his ego. There is NO way that so many people rushed out to post so many posts for one professor. Too full of himself! The guy even has his own personal website promoting himself! The vainest prof that I have ever had to date! Even my sister who also had him before says the same thing! The guy even has a Twitter account promoting himself! All him - deep fake news! I dislike profs like him, and I have no interest in taking any more courses from such a person. I encourage you to read the posts in RMP and Professors Directory about him (for a good laugh). I, along with others, believe it is all him. And, he does not even have any real industry experience! I also dislike taking a course from someone who is experience just comes from a textbook. Be your own judge.

I currently work as a Lecturer of Economics and Management courses at the Vancouver School of Economics (ranked #1 in Canada) at the University of British Columbia (ranked #19 for Business and Economics in the World by Times). Previously I worked as a Limited Term Lecturer of Finance and Economics at the Beedie School of Business of Simon Fraser University (SFU) as well as a Faculty of Finance, Accounting and Risk Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). I also taught Corporate Finance at Douglas College, BC. I also worked as the Lead Instructor and Director of Learning for CFA prep courses at FinanceTraining.ca where my main responsibilities included lecturing, curriculum development, training other instructors, corporate training and business development. Before working in the education industry, I spent several years as Investment Analyst and Consultant at different investment banks, manufacturing firms, and think-tanks such as Fraser Institute and Asian Tiger Capital Partners Ltd. In these positions I leveraged an adept understanding of venture capital, private equity, M&A and different robust valuations techniques when providing sound advice on investment, financial and portfolio management.
My extensive teaching experience has allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds academically, culturally and linguistically. My teaching philosophy relies on real life experiences so that students can relate the theory to reality. These methods put the teaching component into the hands of the students, allowing them to become close to experts in the topics covered and to help others learn about it.
My educational background include PhD in Finance, CFA®, FRM®, two Master’s Degrees (MAs) in Economics and Financial Economics, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) with a triple-major in Finance, Accounting and Economics.
