I have been a Ph.D, professor, essayist, editor and writer for twenty years. I have done it all, from bat mitzvah speeches to lectures for 500 bored art students, to advertising copy to novels to fan fic (paid/for others' fantasies.)
I am, to use the current argot, a story teller.
Here's one for you, Boss.
This woman was looking for a PT job, telling hook-loaded, on-point, stories for a cool agency.
One the agency called and said, Have you checked your CV lately?
She looked and the CV was fine, just sitting there and licking her hand.
Then another call.
CHECK YOUR CV.
It licked her hand again so she just fell asleep, nonplused but happy for the support.
In the morning, the CV was gone!
In its place, a message in BLOOD.
I AM AN AXE MURDERER HA HA HA!
HE had been licking her hand all night! Is what the cops said, and then, Oh man, don't look in your office!
But she did.
The CV was torn up like a wild animal
had attacked it, its ink all red not black, and the lady job listed was...
YOUR NEXT.
IN THOSE WORDS! USING A POSSESSIVE INSTEAD OF A CONTRACTION!!!
