My research areas of expertise are: Immigrant and refugee health across the lifespan; Indigenous health; cultural safety and marginalized populations; family caregiving; health care services; nursing philosophy; and qualitative research methodologies. As an RN, I worked in Ophthalmology, ENT & Neck surgery, general surgery, urology, and gynecology. I am honored to be a Scholar of the Transcultural Nursing Society since October 2017 and part of a group of 56 TCS Scholars in the world. I am a Research Affiliate with the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region (now the SK Health Authority). I am a member of Immigration West at the University of Manitoba. I mentored Dr. Yixi Lu who received a Top Postdoctoral Research Award from the SHRF on December 2013. I work with researchers from the USA, Turkey, Japan, and Canada to increase cultural competency and address structural racism in healthcare delivery.
