Awesome

Prof. Ellis is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's very approachable and it's easy to keep track of her class. She doesn't pile on loads of reading as well. To anyone who's interested in getting into film studies, I would highly recommend her.

Experience

  • Texas A&M University

    Postdoctoral Fellow

Skilled in genetic, genomic, and molecular biology tools, statistical analysis and conducting behavioral experiments on Drosophila. I have utilized these techniques to uncover courtship- or mating-responsive genes in Drosophila males. My postdoctoral work focuses on identifying GxE (genetic x environmental) interactions dictating Drosophila life history traits. To do so, I focus on natural and engineered mutations and the nutritional environment.

  • Texas A&M University

    Laboratory Instructor

Full-time laboratory instructor for the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University with a focus on Anatomy & Physiology II.

  • Texas A&M University

    Visiting Instructor

I taught ENTO 306 (Insect Physiology) to primarily junior and senior level students with majors in Entomology, Forensic Science, or Biomedical Science. Topics included endocrine, developmental, nervous, reproductive, and behavioral systems.

  • Blinn College

    Adjunct Professor

I teach a section of Introductory Biology I and cover general genetic and molecular topics such as transcription, translation, metabolism, photosynthesis, and Mendelian genetics.

  • Houston Baptist University

    Assistant Professor

Instruct students in Introductory Biology and Human Anatomy & Physiology for non-majors, General Biology for majors, Senior Seminar projects with a focus on Drosophila melanogaster behavior and development, and Capstone. Also responsible for advising Biology majors in their academic career. Serving on the First Year Focus Faculty Committee to promote academic success and engagement for first year students.
