Professional Experience:

I acquired my doctoral degree in (2012). My specialization is in Higher Education, Educational policy Cultural Literacy, Social Justice, Equity and Inclusive Education, English Composition and Writing Coach, Gender and Cultural Diversity, and Initial Teacher Education, Educational Consultant, Higher Education and Navigation Specialist. My work focuses on the experiential knowledge of diverse communities, cultural wealth and cultural capital, access, and inclusivity in education, higher education policy, and research. I am interested in: educational program designs to enhance inclusive environments, teacher training, consulting. advising, writing, research, community development, educational policy and empowerment for diverse communities. With 20 years of teaching experience, my training allows me to provide access and know-how for non-traditional students who seek higher education, and professional development for adults. I create a curriculum that is culturally relevant and accessible for all learners. Other areas of interest include Public Speaking; Writing, Program Development, Leadership, and Facilitation, Seminars and Workshops.

My goal is to establish educational opportunities and programmes for marginalized professionals, as well as at-risk minoritized youths in Canada. I wish to collaborate with other other stakeholders and investors in a combined effort to close the gap (power relations), that exist in hegemonic institutions (education, government, business) for people who come from diverse backgrounds.

My specialties are: Equity, access and diversity in practice and curriculum design, teaching, consulting, engaging teaching techniques, writing, public speaking; student and teacher advising, women issues in higher education; cultural literacy, diversity issues and policy in education, program development, learning strategist, and mentoring and coaching.

  • Cultural Wealth: Keys to Success for Women of Colour in pursuit of PhD.

    Academic Journal: Queens University press

    Women of Colour (WOC) are often the first in their family to pursue a PhD. Despite the lack of familial knowledge (cultural capital), they still succeed. The article investigates how WOC utilized six categories of cultural wealth- skills and abilities informed by experiential knowledge and cultural background-to navigate the pursuit of a doctoral degree at an elite Canadian university.
