Mr. Valverde was born in East LA and grew up in central Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. His mother's home cooking and in state tutition brought him to Arizona where he earned his law degree from Arizona State University.
For 15 years Mr. Valverde practiced criminal defense law in Maricopa County as both a public defender and private attorney. In his career he conducted more than 90 jury trials including homicide, aggravated assualt, sexual assault, fraud, drug conspiracy, and DUI.
Currently he can be found on college campuses primarily teaching philosophy, administration of justice, and political science (or as he likes to call it "truth, justice and the American way"). He has also taught religion, sociology and humanities. He has given presentations on social justice, law, and education.
In addition to his teaching, Mr. Valverde is pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education from the Arizona State University College of Education (where his father once served as Dean).
