    Associate Director of Development

    • Served as a professional staff member in the Fund Development Department. With the Director of Annual Appeals, I directed, oversaw, and approved all aspects of the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal; most specifically the management of annual major donors ($500+ donors), the parish appeal, corporate committee, youth philanthropy, Catholic Charities Board of Directors subcommittees and the Diocesan Young Professionals Board.
    • Successfully managed the solicitation and acknowledgement of the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal major donors ($500+ donors), resulting in a 3% increase in the amount of donors and a 7% increase in the amount of pledges from year-end 2004 to 2005. Implemented a new, innovative premium system to acknowledge annual major donors; success evidenced by positive feedback from donors and recognition among colleagues.
    • Directed the Associate Board (Diocesan Board of young philanthropic professionals) through a strategic planning process and implementation period, resulting in increased recruitment, greater accountability amongst members and greater efficiency of staff time spent on Board related activities.
    • Planned and executed the Associate Board-sponsored Theology on Tap lecture series. Attendance increased, the quality of speakers was enhanced and an admission fee was implemented.
    • Managed all Catholic Charities youth philanthropy activities, resulting in a 14% increase in contributions received from Catholic schools in the 2004-2005 school year compared to the previous school year and an additional 19% increase in the 2005-2006 school year.
    • Pioneered the development and implementation of a Catholic Charities Corporate Committee, resulting in an increase of 30% in annual appeal gifts from small/medium-sized businesses in 2005.

    Partners Membership Coordinator

    • Served as a development professional selling memberships to the young professional donor group, Playhouse Square Partners, while effectively managing large-scale special events, a volunteer board of 40 and a membership base of over 400.
    • Successfully planned and executed the 16th and 17th Annual Jump Back Ball events. Duties included negotiating contracts, obtaining corporate and media sponsorships, ticket sales and management of all event logistics. Served as point person for all event needs including underwriting/sponsorships, marketing/media, entertainment, ticket sales, food/beverage, raffle/silent auction, activities, décor, print materials, etc. Success evidenced by: Net income increased by over 19% in 2008 ($140,303) compared to 2007 ($118,015); Decreased expenses by 1.4% between 2008 and 2007; Supervised a staff of three (3) and a volunteer leadership team of ten (10).
    • Responsible for all Partners annual membership recruitment and funds raised through membership fees. Success evidenced by: Raised 15% (or $12,000) over the 2007 fiscal year goal, which resulted in an increased membership goal for the 2008 fiscal year; Raised 5.3% (or $5,000) over the 2008 fiscal year goal; Increased new memberships by 300% (3x) during the 2007 fiscal year compared to the previous year; Hosted and planned recruitment events as well as regularly sold Partners memberships over the phone/email to prospective new members. Used incentives to move members up to the next level of membership. Successfully upgraded 62% more during the 2007 fiscal year compared to the previous year.
    • Managed a calendar of events for membership base including monthly meetings, educational lecture series, receptions, socials and fundraising events.
    • Implemented the revision of the organization’s by-laws after eight (8) years in existence through strategic planning efforts, which included multiple changes in membership benefits.

    • Manage the Pay It Forward: Student Philanthropy Initiative. YSU students serve as grantmakers and award funding to regional nonprofit organizations. Received a total of $33,000 in seed funding from Ohio Campus Compact to implement the program from 2010-2012. Since then, an average of $3,000 is distributed each spring semester. Initiative sustained through student fundraising efforts. A total of $50,000 has been awarded.
    • Serve as Grant Administrator for the Nonprofit Leadership Summer Honors Internship. The program has received over $200,000 in funding from The Raymond John Wean Foundation to place YSU students as full-time interns in regional nonprofit organizations and/or public sector offices in the summers of 2011, 2013, 2015 & 2017.
    • Sustained enrollment in academic program (certificate and minor) through ongoing strategic operational changes.
    • Served as Grant Administrator for the Great Lakes Career Ready Internship Program, funded by the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation in the amount of $150,000
    • Implemented and sustain a Regional Case Study Exercise Initiative where students serve as consultants and provide solutions to real challenges a nonprofit organization is facing: Past organization hosts have included: Akron Zoo, University Circle, Inc. (Cleveland), The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, COSI (Columbus), Cleveland Museum of Art, & Carnegie Science Center
    • Serve as the faculty advisor for the Student Nonprofit Leadership Organization (SNLO)
