Do not take this class because you will only be wasting your time. She is a tough grader and she does not explain assignments at all. I wonder how she got a teaching license. If you have to take her class, i suggest you drop it instead.

I have had plenty of rough professors at ECU, but Atkinson is honestly the worst. She contradicts herself a lot about what she is looking for and her assignments are extremely vague. She is a VERY tough grader and super unorganized. If you make one mistake, say goodbye to an A. Drop her class and take someone else!

In the class of Professor Atkinson, every assignment is basically an opinion piece. You will get graded on how well you can endorse liberal ideologies. You won't really get an opinion and she preferred you use sources like TMZ and Vox magazine. The papers were very long. She explained those really vaguely, but wanted something that is very specific. Also, she's terrible at keeping you updated online.

Professor Atkinson was just an awful teacher. There were four 4-6 page case studies single spaced, mostly on topics that I didn't agree with. She is an incoherent speaker both in class and on assignments. The work load is not equal to the quality of teaching we receive. Make sure you avoid her, just a terrible instructor.
