Kristen D.
Burton
Greater New Orleans Area
I am a trained historian, educator, and researcher who advocates for the continued support and accessibility of the arts and humanities. I received my doctorate in Transatlantic History, funded through the Enhanced Graduate Teaching Assistantship, from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2015. I also hold B.A. and an M.A. degrees from Oklahoma State University.
Over the past decade, I have focused my energy into creating resources and programs designed to help students and teachers at the secondary and postsecondary level. I now work with The National WWII Museum to create curriculum and encourage teachers' accessibility to educational resources. I do this through the drafting and publication of lesson plans, overview essays, and interactive media that teachers can bring into the classroom. I also work with the Museum to oversee and help run teacher professional development workshops in New Orleans and abroad, as well as work with the Education Department to support the operation of student and public programs.
My goal is to remain involved in advocacy work for the arts and humanities, so teachers can access as many resources as possible and students of all ages can continue to learn and develop these critical educational cornerstones.
