I live for light-bulb moments. That spark of realization and understanding in myself, my colleagues and my students. Anywhere I can get them, really. The feeling of the last piece of the puzzle clicking into space and the way a person’s face looks when it happens. I do everything I can to facilitate those moments and celebrate them when they occur.
It is my ambition to touch eternity in as many ways as I can: through teaching theory and understanding of our world as well as good scientific techniques and management practices. Through research in genetics, disease, and the trans-generational impacts of toxins. Through development of better scientific practices, contributions to the full scope of scientific knowledge, and shaping future paradigms.
I currently have experience with the following laboratory techniques:
• ELISA
• qPCR
• PCR
• Gel Purification and electrophoresis
• Cell harvesting and subsequent In Vitro Cell Culture
• Hemacytometry and visualization
• Animal protocols
I have training and experience in teaching, and thoroughly enjoy helping students reach their aspirations. I am skilled at individualizing and differentiating instruction and finding the best way to present the information to facilitate learning.
In my free-time I can be found hiking, perusing museums, or checking out new interesting coffee shops.
