Awesome
Prof. Leon is smart, funny, and cares a lot about his students. He's honestly one of the best professors at GW. Grades come from quizzes, three exams, and a weekly discussion post. Other than that, he also offers opportunities for extra credit. You'll do well as long as you put in the work.
Awesome
Professor Leon was one of the best professors that I have had so far at George Washington University. He is always accessible outside the class and is caring to his students. He is a dedicated professor and will take time to get to know each of his students. I highly recommend his class.

Research Assistant - Transnational Organized Crime
The NIJ Research Assistantship Program is housed within the Office of Justice Programs at the Department of Justice, and is designed to provide qualified doctoral students with practical and applied research experience that has direct implications for criminal justice practitioners. NIJ provides funds to participating universities to pay salaries and other costs associated with research assistants who work on NIJ research priorities. Research assistants perform a range of research-related duties and must work effectively as part of a larger research team. In this capacity, I plan and organize my work as a research contractor under the supervision of Dr. John Picarelli, who directs the research portfolio on Transnational Organized Crime.
Current projects include:
1. Determining the measurable differences between supply and demand-side interventions in
illicit markets and underground economies (e.g. drugs, counterfeit goods, human trafficking);
2. Employing a socio-legal framework to assess how laws and policy structurally incentivize
specific forms of transnational organized crime;
3. Assessing the ways in which state complicity or direct involvement is required for select
transnational organize criminal enterprises to retain their comparative advantage(s);
4. Highlighting social, political, and structural restraints (or contradictions) that impede or bias
federally-funded research on transnational organized crime and corruption;
5. Contribute to existing efforts that bolster data integrity and prevalence data concerning various
forms of human trafficking (e.g. sex versus labor trafficking).
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the Humphrey Program brings young and mid-career professionals from designated countries to the United States for a year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts.
