Dr. Ken Wilson started GP rounds with his Dad at age 3
went to the local primary school in Kirkliston
then to George Watson’s Boys’ College
Edinburgh from 1953-1963
where he won House Colors at Rugby and twice won the Highland Watsonian Club Quaich for individual highland bagpipe. At Edinburgh University
he qualified Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons. Pharmacology) 1967
MBChB 1970 and Doctorate (MD) 1994 with a Thesis on Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma. He trained in Internal Medicine in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and became Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK in 1972. In 1977 he emigrated to Canada and the Saskatchewan Cancer Foundation where be began his career in Medical Oncology. In 1979
he became one of the first 2 board certified Medical Oncologists (ABIM
Med Onc) in the province. He moved to the Victoria Cancer Clinic in 1980 where he was the only full time specialist in Medical Oncology for 8 years. He became FRCPC in 1978

FRCP Edinburgh in 1985. Dr Wilson was appointed Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia in 2006. He has broad oncology interests with principal author publications in all major tumor types (Lancet

Cancer Investigation
Leukemia and Lymphoma
Cancer Treatment Reports etc). He has been closely linked to the NCIC Myeloma and Melanoma Groups
and authored the report of the 3rd NCIC Myeloma Trial. Along with Dr. Jan Lim
he introduced radical CTRT for esophageal cancer in the BC Cancer Agency. His main non-medical interest is music. He was Medical Officer and Guest Piper with the N Sask R and Canadian Scottish Regiments from 1977 – 1984
and is currently a Member of the Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society and guest member of the Can Scots Association Pipes and Drums
He married Sally (d 2015)
who trained in Nursing and Midwifery in Edinburgh
has 3 children

and one Head of Campus Planning and Sustainability
