Research Coordinator for the Community Tenure Study. The purpose of the mixed methods study was to: 1) interview older adults (N=60) who applied for nursing facility admission in order to identify the challenges they experienced prior to the nursing facility application and compare older adults who remain in the community to those older adults who were admitted to nursing facilities; 2) track a cohort of older adults (N=599) for 24 months following their application for nursing facility admission; and 3) identify factors that contributed to older adults’ (N=599) ability to remain in the community for 24 months.

Research Coordinator for the Expanded Examination of Factors Related to Diversion and Successful Community Tenure for Medicaid Customers: The Effect of Diagnosis and Prescription Drug Use. The purpose of this multi-year study is to: 1) analyze the utilization and costs of Medicaid services for older adults (N=6303); 2) identify prevalent disease categories experienced by low-income older adults; and 3) make recommendations to state policy makers regarding development of disease management interventions for use by case managers. The study is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Office of Aging and Long Term Care
the University of Kansas Medical Center and the School of Pharmacy at The University of Kansas.

Research Coordinator for The Diversion Study. The purpose of the three-year longitudinal mixed methods study was to: 1) identify risk factors for nursing facility admission for older adults who applied for nursing facility admission (N=2882); 2) analyze the factors associated with older adults’ admission to nursing facilities compared to older adults who remained in the community with services; and 3) identify factors that contributed to older adults’ (N=599) ability to remain in the community for 18 months.
