Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Thesis project included working with clinical data and genotyping SNPs in individuals from A Case Control Etiologic Study of Sarcoidosis (ACCESS) and the Cystic Fibrosis Twin/Sib Study. Analysis included False Discovery Rate analysis
power calculations and co-designing a program in SAS to compute studywide p-values in a matched case-control study by Monte Carlo permutation. Family study analysis included transmission disequilibrium tests with dichotomous and quantitative traits
family-based association testing
and regression analysis. Research Advisor Garry Cutting

Studying the relationship of DNA methylation to metal exposure and health using an aging Icelandic population. Designed and implemented pyrosequencing assays with data analysis in SAS and R. This work is an ancillary project to the AGES (Age
Gene/Environment Susceptibility) study which is based in the Reykjavik Study cohort that has been followed since the 1960s. Research Advisor M. Daniele Fallin
