Ethics
I am the instructor of record for UTD's Rhetoric 1302 course and have been an active participant in conferences and so forth through the Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies. My most recent conference was at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem
where I presented a paper on (alleged) Islamophobia in Franz Rosenzweig's _Star of Redemption_. I recently rejoined Sigma Tau Delta
the English honor society.

My Thesis was an intellectual etiology of the Shoah (Holocaust). My purpose was to uncover the philosophical and theological ideas that informed historical antisemitism and judaeophobia in general and the Shoah in particular. \n\nI am currently in the process of revising my Thesis for possible publication.
Holocaust and Related Studies
I attended a Holocaust Symposium in England in the summer of 2008.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
As an undergraduate
I majored in Philosophy (with a focus in Hellenistic thought) and English (with a focus in the Romantics).
Philosophy and English
I was a member of several national academic honor societies
most if not all of which I've since forgotten. I had no involvement with sports or fraternities
being obsessed to the point of an ulcer with remaining as close to 4.0 as possible.
University of Memphis
I graduated summa cum laude.

I am on the cusp of obtaining my Ph.D. in Humanities. The focus of my dissertation is post-Holocaust ethical thought--specifically
the role of kenosis in the thought of Emmanuel Levinas. I hope to enter a postdoctoral program and turn my dissertation into a book and/or to obtain a teaching position at a good university. I could teach on a number of different subjects: Jewish philosophy (Buber
Rosenzweig
Levinas et al); theology (apologetics); literature
especially Russian (Dostoevsky
Tolstoy
and V. Grossman
among others); and Holocaust studies. I love teaching; being a mentor and a guide to my students is my greatest satisfaction. I love books and study
but with the discourse afforded by my students (and my peers as well)
it would be empty. \n\n

I assisted Dr. David Patterson with research
grading papers
and teaching. I taught a few courses of my own (Holocaust Studies). Occasionally I saw to the needs of visiting speakers.\n\nI loved being a teacher; as much
I found myself surprised to admit
as being a student. Meeting other minds
engaging in serious dialogue
planting seeds and opening eyes (and experiencing the same in turn) -- this was perhaps the most rewarding period of my life.

It is my job to help grow the organization and its membership by assisting and training the facilitators of the various chapters and seeking out new talent. It is also my mandate to develop the pedagogical/dialectical components of Centers of Influence: For COI is about more than networking per se
however vital that may be; it is to be a community of like-minded business people sharing and refining knowledge
methodologies
strategies
and tactics. \n\nEqually important is the commitment to community
primarily (though not exclusively) by equipping our members to better serve their clients and the community at large.

I cared for individuals with dementia
polio
cancer and other serious conditions
patients recovering from various medical procedures
and stroke victims. As well
I transported people to and from medical appointments. I was also a companion
a house cleaner
and a shopper.\n\nBeing a caregiver was at once an incredibly rewarding and intensely harrowing experience. All the hardship that went into preserving and celebrating each life in my charge was a real test of my commitments as a would-be Levinasian. I grew
moving beyond my comfort zone and learning much of my weaknesses and limitations. Yet it was also a bitter experience: Losing people to darkness
to sickness and even death
was excruciating.

In my capacity as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Cole PCs
I helped to craft the company's core values
I created the company handbook
and I helped to develop training and other pedagogical methodologies. \n\nMore broadly
it was my job to care for people
employees as well as clients -- to ensure that each and every person was treated as a You
never an It.
