I teach an entirely online course entitled \"Environmental Ethics.\"
The University of Minnesota (Twin Cities)
Professor of Philosophy
I was a teacher
author
public speaker and public philosopher. I taught courses in Environmental Philosophy (including Ecofeminist Ethics and Philosophy)
Feminist Philosophy
Women in the History of Philosophy
Ethics
and Critical Thinking. In addition
I wrote eight (8) books
including my signature book Ecofeminist Philosophy: A Western Perspective on What It Is and Why It Matters (2000) and the anthology An Unconventional History of Western Philosophy: Conversations Between Men and Women Philosophers--the first book in any language to include women philosophers alongside their historical male philosopher contemporaries. I won several teaching awards for my teaching of philosophy in both college classes and to students in grades 1-12. I gave keynote public presentations in such diverse places as Moscow
Helsinki
Stockholm
Oslo
Rio de Janeiro
Buenos Aires
San Jose (Costa Rica)
Perth (Western Australia)
London (as an Oxford Fellow)
Manitoba and throughout the United States. And I gave workshops on critical thinking to such organizations as the Leopold Education Project
The Wilderness Society
Pheasants Forever
Northern States Power (MN)
General Mills
many Nature Centers and school districts. I was what is called \"a public philosopher
\" one who conceives and practices philosophy \"on every street corner
\" believing that philosophical thinking is appropriate for all age groups
in all cultural contexts
and on both theoretical and applied issues.

Essay in \"Singing in the Fire: Stories of Women in Philosophy\"
Twelve women philosophers were asked to write an essay on their gendered experiences as graduate students and professional philosophers. My essay was titled
\"Getting Here From There.\" This anthology was the first book of its kind in philosophy--one that highlights the experiences of well-known women philosophers
primarily on issues of gender
race
class
and affectional orientation
as philosophy students and professional philosophers.
