Incivility is an umbrella term used to describe specific rude or demeaning comments or behaviors. Incivility in nursing education can be identified as student-to-faculty
faculty-to-student
or even faculty- to-faculty. Incivility is a direct violation of the ANA Code of Ethics (ANA
p.9)
which states that \"the nurse
in all professional relationships
practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity
worth
and uniqueness of every individual...\" These principles of respect extend to all encounters
including colleagues.
Incivility in Nursing Education
I have many interests but I am passionate about nursing education. I can not imagine doing anything else at this point in my life. I am a Certified Nurse Educator
which validates my knowledge and expertise as a master academic nurse educator.\n \nI have taught since 1987 in diploma
associate degree
baccalaureate and master's programs
and I still love watching my students learn and grow professionally.\n\nMy second passion is all animals without homes
without adequate food and water
and without love and companionship\n\nI work with several animal rescue organizations that provide transport for shelter animals to different parts of the U.S. or Europe
where they will have a chance to live in a loving
safe home. We have transports every weekend and its something that means so much to me because I get to know these animals; I am so blessed because I work with hundreds of other volunteers to save lives
