I run the Cognition and Brain Lab (http://cognitionandbrainlab.org) at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois. We use human electrophysiological techniques, along with eyetracking, behavioral, and other functional imaging methods, to understand how the brain gleans meaning from words (and pictures, scenes, and other meaningful stimuli), how it combines words into sentences and larger language units, and how it remembers the meaningful stimuli it has encountered.
