Prof. Hill always tells us that students don't care what you know until they know you care. He really stands behind this statement. It has been the most worthwhile semester despite it being the most difficult course I've ever taken. Prof. Hill's class was quite mean at first but you will love him towards the end if you have him as your lab teacher.

Biography

Ohio University - Journalism

Assistant Professor at Ohio University
Writing & Editing
Hill,
Justice
Cleveland/Akron, Ohio Area
I have more than 30 years of experience as a writer and editor. I also have taught journalism at one of the most prestigious journalism programs in America. That combination of academic and managerial experience has come together to create a writer/editor/educator who can work across a number of platforms. I have Internet experience with MLB.com, and my journalism pedigree includes tours of duty at a couple of the best newsrooms in America. More than anything else, I am a "team" player. I understand the value of people working as a unit.

Specialties: Directed staffs of writers and editors for a variety of media. Also, launched the internship program at MLB.com. Played lead role in recruiting talent at several organizations. Have been an active member of the Sports Task force, an arm of the National Association of Black Journalists. During my career, I have done presentations at The American Press Institute on newsroom leadership and led a discussion group at The Poynter Institute for faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

    Assistant Professor

I am responsible for infusing a sports aspect into the J-school curriculum. In addition, I am advising the OU student chapter of APSE, and I also intend to play a role in bridging the divide between the campus group of black media members and their counterparts at SPJ. I taught at Ohio U. 28 years ago, so my returning brings excitement and a sense of nostalgia to me. The university has changed, but so have I. But the mission is unchanged: to create smart, thoughtful and ethical media practitioners.
