Good

I was a final year student before taken chem, needed it to graduate. If you have ever taken Aleks you know what Iam talking about. You got to study for lab quizzes, you go to do lab reports, pre labs and oh yeah Aleks.

Awesome

Prof. Crowell is totally awesome! His notes are super helpful because it's fill-in-the blank. Online homework can be quite time consuming though. His lectures are very funny and informative, He gives great examples to work through. He's also very honest about what to expect in medical school and other chemistry classes. Prof. Crowell does use the iClicker.

Poor

Prof. Crowell's class isn't so bad but it's so much work. His homework system sucks though. You'll know why if you have ever used ALEKS. Exams are multiple choice and are usually composed of 20 questions. Study the problems from the textbook and also the ones from class. You really have to take the lab seriously because either really hurt you or help you.

Average

Oftentimes, I review my test answers, but here, I bubble in 5+ answers per test. He actually reminds us that the multiple choice test answers are your most likely mistake. Take him if you get the chance! He clearly knows his stuff. He's a good guy and he answers questions and teaches well. I personally think his testing or HW standards are too zealous for Gen Chem.

Average

Professor Corwell's notes are fill in the blanks, which is what most of the chemistry department does as well. I really didn't like this style because I felt like I didn't learn anything. Usually, you have a class until the day before the exam. This is frustrating because, you're studying last minute as well and feel rushed. On the other hand, the tests are okay.

Poor

I recommend you do yourself a favor and avoid Crowell, he is a rude, arrogant, and doesn't answer emails, he is overall a horrible professor. His lectures are terrible at teaching the material, and he wait until the last five minutes to cramp everything in.

Awful

Prof. Crowell's 5-week course seems to be almost impossible. He expected us to watch an entire semester worth of Echo videos and go through his old lectures in a very short amount of time. He gives 2 exams weekly with only 10 questions and we only had 1 day to learn the material. He wasn't accessible as well. I wouldn't recommend him at all.

Awful

Professor Crowell's class is fast on a higher level. He expects you to learn an entire chapter in as little as a day, before you will be quizzed on it. The quizzes are only ten questions, taken a day apart and worth 75% of your grade. He posted lecture videos on WINTER's Echo360 and will expect that you to do everything by yourself. Overall, he's a lazy and unfair professor.

I wish Professor Crowell would answer emails and messages.

This professor is hilarious! He'll get off on a tangent now and again to tell you a story from his life, so pay attention. His notes are in a fill-in-the-blank format, which makes it easier to pay attention in class. His examinations are severely weighted, so pray that you perform well, but he also provides additional study materials. He is a fantastic teacher who genuinely cares about his students.

Professor Crowell is passionate about chemistry and very kind. He's good at homework and takes care of his students. He's great during office hours too. Chemistry 2 requires work, but it lays the foundation for Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry so pay attention. His lectures were very accurate. Just make sure you definitely read and solve the practice problems. It's an easy A if you know how to manage your time.
