Mr. Joseph Kamanda holds a Master of Civil Engineering degree from North Carolina State University and is a licensed professional engineer in several states within the U.S. and abroad. He has over eighteen years of progressive geotechnical, geo-structural and forensic engineering experience. Mr. Kamanda has managed a variety of geotechnical engineering and construction projects for private industries, local and tribal governments, transportation, energy, healthcare, education, hospitality and commercial sectors in several states along the east coast, southern parts of the U.S. and abroad. He is also an independent geotechnical, structural-forensic engineering consultant and Adjunct lecturer in the Department of Math, Science & Engineering at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia where he teaches Mechanics & Strength of Materials.

Responsible for planning and providing technical and operational guidance for geotechnical engineering projects involving the design and construction of shallow and deep foundations including spread footings, drilled shafts, auger-cast piles, etc. Determine types and methods of field testing based on project scope and site geology. Geotechnical Engineering reports preparation and projects management. Review geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing (CMT) reports. Perform site inspections during the construction phase to ensure projects are constructed as recommended in geotechnical engineering reports. Senior Engineering Consultant
As a senior engineering consultant, Mr. Kamanda manages and performs engineering analysis for geotechnical and geo-structural projects, assesses construction site conditions, identifies special site grading requirements necessary to respond to subsurface conditions for proposed developments, performs subgrade evaluation and testing for buildings, bridges and roadways, performs engineering analysis and provides oversight for construction of shallow and deep foundations, pavements systems and slope stability for new alignments, widening, rehabilitation and reconstruction of roadways. He performs inspection and provides quality assurance services during construction of civil engineering projects. Mr. Kamanda also performs inspections and oversees plant production of precast and pre-stressed concrete members including concrete piles, slab decks and pile caps for the construction of bridges, ports, marine and environmental containment structures.
Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager
Overall responsibility for engineering projects management. Perform project management duties required to successfully deliver projects within scope, schedule and budget to the client's satisfaction. Lead aspects of geotechnical engineering design, project meetings, work planning, scope development and fee estimates. Provide timely solutions to field problems and communicate with project team. Business development, maintaining key client relationships, training and mentoring of junior technical staff.
Geotechnical/Structural Forensic Engineer
As an independent contractor, Mr. Kamanda performs structural and geotechnical engineering analysis of damage to buildings and other civil structures, evaluates material defects, structural, foundation and other failures related to the components of civil structures; also performs evaluation of component and system failures/damages to HVAC systems.
