Jonathan Thomas is a researcher at the University of Iowa. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Iowa Department of Anthropology, where he received his PhD in 2014. Dr. Thomas has also worked for the University of Iowa as a teaching assistant and instructor for the Department of Anthropology, the Department of Rhetoric, the International Writing Program, and the International Studies Program. After graduation, Dr. Thomas worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) / University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine affairs as a Medical Anthropologist, and Qualitative Research Scientist for the VA Center for Access, Delivery Research and Evaluation (CADRE) and for the Ethnographic Methods & Implementation Core (EMIC) at the VA. Dr. Thomas' research and academic interests include cultural anthropology, medical anthropology, archaeology, qualitative research analysis, stable isotope analysis, health care science research, grant writing, industrial and systems engineering, and academic article publication.
