I served in all capacities within the department from patrolman to Assistant Chief of Police. I was a criminal investigator for approximately 25 years of that time. I am one of the original founders of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers' Association
and designed it logo and created its motto: Aspire to Excellence. I served 4 years on a Governor's appointment to the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.

Created and established the Criminal Justice degree program. I serve as the program coordinator for the C.J. program and Division Chair for the Social Sciences Division.
