Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area
I am a doctoral candidate in mathematics at the University of Minnesota. My focus is dynamical systems, with probability as a secondary focus. I am also a website developer, and technology analyst. I developed the first web-based reservation system in Minnesota for a limousine company, including computerized dispatching of trips to driver's cell phones. I have also built podcasting and other audio web solutions for organizations in Minnesota.
I was a mental health provider for nine years, and this informs my classroom management and allows me to identify when a student needs additional support. This background motivates me to implement a student-centered approach to education. This approach is not a one-way street with knowledge flowing from me to passive students; but one in which I partner with students to support them toward their educational goals.
Technology Consultant
Jodin worked at Minnesota Zen Meditation Center as a Technology Consultant
Technology and Website Developer
My business offers technology and website consulting to organizations. I developed solutions to streamline financial and web related processes. While my business offered generalized services, I specialize in website back-end development (e.g., form submissions, online payment, content management), and particularly audio manipulation (online podcast and MP3 creation and manipulation).
Mental Health Practitioner
Worked with adults who have serious and persistent mental illness. Administered medications, assisted in treatment planning and implementation, moderated a "Men's Group" and an "Evening Group," managed medical and mental health crises, and engaged in skill building interactions with clients, including tutoring mathematics toward the client's GED.

The curriculum explores the topic of declining milkweed populations in Midwestern states and the potential implications for monarch butterflies. Milkweed is the primary food source for monarch larva and is therefore essential to the reproductive success of the species. The curriculum incorporates a range of quantitative literacy and algebraic skills: calculating and interpreting percent changes, working with units, interpreting densities, understanding and modeling exponential growth and decay, and making projections. The curriculum was piloted and evaluated in two sections of algebra courses during fall 2014.

Developed and published sustainability-related curriculum for college algebra and pre-calculus that will be made available to math teachers across the country through a National Science Foundation funded project called "Engaging Mathematics." Presented the results of my summer research at the Nation's largest mathematics conference, the Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Antonio, Texas. Spoke at the MAA Contributed Papers Sessions, “Undergraduate Sustainability Experiences in the Mathematics Classroom.”
