Teaches English to underprepared students. For most of her students, English is not their first language. Therefore, many do find the courses challenging, but Joan always finds it a joy to see the expressions on her students' faces when they realize that they have been successful at the end of the semester.
Her interests are to continue to help underprepared students not only to be successful in her courses but to persist in college till they graduate.
