Graduate Thesis: Facebook in the Work Environment : A Look At How Facebook Has An Impact on the Developing Relationships in the Workplace
Hello! My name is Jessica Martin. I work full time as a driven and motivated College Professor for Communication courses. \n\nI began my academic career at Oregon State University
where I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Speech Communication. During my time as an undergraduate student
I was an active member of Lambda Pi Eta
the National Communication Association’s official honor society.\n\nAfter finishing my Bachelors
I then completed my Master’s degree in Communication Studies. For my graduate thesis
I analyzed the popular social media platform Facebook—to see how it had an impact on interpersonal relationships in the workplace. My analysis for my thesis was based on a combined interpersonal and rhetorical perspective
where I conducted over 25 interviews with employees within various work organizations. \n\nTo this day
I enjoy finding research centered on how we communicate online through various social media platforms
and how this relatively new field is changing how we communicate today.\n\nMy passion for teaching public speaking and other Communication courses was developed when I taught at at Oregon State University during my graduate studies. Right away
I loved teaching this necessary skill of public speaking
as well as helping each my students achieve their academic goals. \n\nAside from my academic and professional endeavors
I have my dual citizenship for the United States and Italy. Many of my distant relatives currently reside in Palermo
Italy. I also have lived in Spain with my family
and attended an American school in Seville. Other favorites countries that I have traveled to are France
and England.
