Awesome
I enjoyed taking Prof. Chandler for both Bio101 and Bio102. He makes class engaging and fun and he really cares about his students. He is very accessible outside of class and he gives good feedback. Tbh, I lowkey want to marry him because he's so adorable.
Good
Professor Chandler is a really fun and nice guy, however sometimes I think he forgot that he was teaching Biology to NON Biology majors. The lectures were extremely heavy, but he can't help that, he would try to make it as fun as possible. The lab grade is a big help.
Awesome
Doctor Chandler teaches in an entertaining way. I'm not a fan of group work, but he did at least one per exam period. It is easy to fall behind with online assignments. I loved his way of teaching online the last half of class. I would've preferred the course that way because, the lessons were recorded to watch on your own time. So, I didn't have to get up early.
Good
Dr. Chandler is one of the best lecturers I've ever had at the University of Texas. His lectures are always engaging, despite the fact that each one has about 70 slides. Tests are incredibly difficult, so you must put in the effort, but he is a really accessible professor who cares about his students' success. During COVID, he put in a lot of effort to be fair in his grading.
Awful
Lectures are heavily reliant on PowerPoint (longer than 50 slides) and he speeds through them, making it hard to take notes. He is also a very sluggish grader; it actually took us months to get one exam back. There is no study guide and no tests are based on lecture. He also doesn't have any set office hours and takes days to respond to emails.
Awful
I've gotten an A in every class I've taken, so I was surprised that I barely got out with a B in Prof. Chandler's class. He is a nice guy, but his exams are really difficult, and his grading is harsh. I didn't learn anything in his lectures because he runs through so many slides so quickly. I'm truly sorry for taking him!
Awesome
Doctor Chandler is the best. He really cares about the success of his students. With Covid-19 this semester, he made changes to the grading system, making the final count only if it helped the students. To be ready for exams, study the goals on the posted lecture slides. Also, don't hesitate to ask for help. Overall, I would take him for every science class if I could.
Awful
Professor Chandler's lectures were horrible. He flies through the slides. Also, the exams make it impossible to get a good grade in his class. I suggest don't take his class if possible.
Poor
He's a nice person. However, his exams are very tough. He also waits until the very last moment of the term to enter the grades. I was so worried I was going to fail that I chose pass/fail for the course. However, in the end, I ended up getting an 88. It was all quite frustrating. Don't even bother trying to reach out to him via email because he never responds. He uses Clickers for every lecture, so those points are pretty important to get.
Awful
He's a terrible teacher. He's unclear about what he wants for the course. He goes way too fast through more than 80 slides each class. His grading is unorganized and he never responded to emails within a week. Make sure to do the learning goals at the end of his lecture slides before tests. I wouldn't suggest his class to anyone who wants a fair A in Bio160.
