I am working towards a Ph.D. in the Composition
Culture and Literacy Program of the English Department. \n\nMy program also includes a teaching component
and I have taught W131
IU's Analytical Writing course requirement
in both its classic and multilingual formats. I have also been a part of the state-sponsored Groups Summer Program
teaching its composition component
J101. I served a 3-year term as an Assistant Director for the W131 program
a position that included advising/mentoring a group of six new Associate Instructors
administrative work
and teaching. I also taught two sections of W231 Professional Writing before becoming coordinator of that program for Summer-Fall 2017. I completed my second semester teaching a self-designed multilingual advanced expository composition course about digital writing.

My courses were designed to appeal to students from across the discipline. Most often
I taught a 100-level class incorporating literature written in the Romantic and Victorian periods in England
Russian Realism
American modernism
and American contemporary literature. The students are encouraged to apply their reading to their own lives in a constructive way. I also taught a special topics 200-level on Magical Realism course open to all majors and a study abroad course about 20th Century Literatures of Place/Travel. \n\nSince these are designated as writing intensive courses
their papers were designed to teach them to develop an argument
create theses and use evidence. We also work a great deal on grammar
sentence construction and peer reviewing. By the end of the semester
they will be able to read and write critically
think creatively
and speak convincingly about their ideas.

I worked with the Alumni Association on materials that helped connect alumni to their University. This included online materials for recent graduates and print materials for a broader reading base. Such publications included: ND Today
Echoes
and web content. Through interviews with students
faculty
staff
and alumni
the Alumni Association strengthens personal ties and reaffirms financial commitments.\n\nI also worked with the Alumni Travel program to create inviting
vibrant brochures for the numerous trips coordinated every year through the office. These trips allow alumni to connect across generations and state borders in an intellectually and culturally stimulating environment.

Market Communications Specialist
As a general freelancer and interim marketing specialist in 2007 and then again from 2009-2014
I worked with designers to create a variety of publications. These publications served to inform our national
regional
and internal audience and generally fell into three categories: corporate
medical information
and event focused. The corporate pieces encompassed those that informed donors of their contributions' impact; personal stories about our patients and employees; and updates on Memorial/Beacon's latest improvements. \n\nThe medically informative pieces were for patients and physician use. They explained medical issues
share information regarding internal practice standards
or highlighted basic practice or physician information. \n\nPieces for events generated attendance through information and included television and video pieces
brochures
fliers
and non-traditional three-dimensional displays.
