Awesome

I took Prof. Gohol's online class and it was easy for me, I must say. This class is for you if you enjoy reading, answering to peers' responses, and posting weekly. Chapters are very interesting. Exams are very easy. Overall, it was an easy A.

    History

    San Francisco State University

  • I volunteered at Lowell High School

which is a San Francisco Public School. As a Teacher's Assistant

I worked with teachers and students in the classroom. I worked one-on-one with students who needed academic assistance by providing tutoring services. I prepared and presented class lectures and designed classroom activities and homework assignments. I served as an active chaperon for the students on field trips

such as trips to Museums in San Francisco.

The Steinbeck Archives in Salinas CA periodically host historical films at the neighboring Maya Cinema. I served as a volunteer while introducing the historical film Julia about European Nazi resistance during World War Two. When creating the lecture to introduce the film

I also created a source page for all in attendance to take home so they could do further research on the topic if they were so inclined. \n\nAlthough this was only a one-day event (for the presentation

the preparation for the lecture took much longer) I found it immensely satisfying. The Maya Theater is a small community theater in Salinas

and the main population in attendance that evening were retirees who were excited to discuss History before the film. I support the Steinbeck Archives' dedication to community building and historical knowledge

and I was honored to be asked to participate. \n

\"A Space of Their Own in Gold Rush Society: Chinese Acceptance and Chop Suey\"

\"A Space of Their Own in Gold Rush Society: Chinese Acceptance and Chop Suey\" explores the Chinese experience during California's Gold Rush. While acknowledging that the Chinese faced persecution from the hands of xenophobic Americans and other immigrants to the area

the paper argues that Chinese immigrants used food as a way to gain acceptance in Gold Rush society. They accomplished this by selling food to hungry miners and working in restaurants that catered to mining communities throughout California.
