Lecturer at University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Jason
McCormick
New York, New York
I am currently a lecturer at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, teaching composition courses. I use a combination of creative writing and academic compositional approaches to help students find their voice in writing.
Previously, I was a lecturer at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, teaching composition, literature, creative writing, and children's literature. One of my focus areas was the teaching of composition in an accelerated classroom, assisting students of greater need to write at the college level. This has become a focus of mine in terms of professional development, and I seek to become more involved in innovative ways to ensure that all students can find success in school.
I have also worked as an adjunct instructor at Hunter College, BMCC, and Westchester Community College.
As a writer, I have published short fiction, pop culture articles, and recently completed a thesis project on the intersection of Young Adult Literature and Zombies. I am currently developing work based on my experience teaching the accelerated composition course and a fiction novel.
