I was asked to serve on the Board of Directors as a result of my partnership with Goodwill. This partnership resulted in service learning opportunities for undergraduate fashion merchandising students in the local Goodwill retail location. Because of my background in fashion merchandising and retail
I was assigned to the Operations committee on which we make recommendations for retail procedures
promotional activities
lease and purchase of properties
and maintenance programs.

Implementing Experiential Learning in an Introductory Fashion Merchandising Course
The purpose of the study was to measure whether experiential learning activities
more specifically field trips
are meeting the fashion merchandising program learning outcomes and introductory course student learning outcomes. The researchers also wanted to investigate the benefits of experiential learning activities related to students’ academic experience and individual personal and professional development.

This encyclopedia is important because each item of ethnic clothing included represents the ethnic diversity of the United States as a result of settlement patterns of a variety of cultural groups. In addition
the items of ethnic clothing included are significant because many of them have been mainstreamed into American culture today.\n\n\n\n

I facilitated the Blue Jeans Go Green Denim Recycling Program on our campus with the fashion merchandising students enrolled in my fashion promotion and advanced textiles courses. Stephen F. Austin State University was just one of four universities in the country selected to participate in the program last fall by Cotton Incorporated. After two months of promotion
on-campus and community events
and outreach to external agencies
such as Goodwill Industries and local resale shops
fashion merchandising students collected almost 1800 pieces of denim.\n\nThe program was implemented by Cotton Incorporated in 2006 to emphasize the natural attributes of cotton and to offer people an opportunity to give back to their communities in a unique way. The program is a call-to-action to give denim new life by recycling it into UltraTouch denim insulation
which is environmentally safe and non-carcinogenic. A portion of the insulation is then donated to communities in need or for use in civic buildings. In addition
it diverts hundreds of tons of waste from landfills every year.\n\nSFASU participated in Blue Jeans Go Green for three consecutive years. Because of students' hard work and collection efforts and creativity in implementing the program on campus and in the community
we were featured on Cotton Incorporated's corporate website for Blue Jeans Go Green. \n\n\n\n
