I am a trained historian who uses those skills to illuminate essays and op-ed columns regarding matters as diverse as Labor, Class struggle, and a host of issues affecting Black America. It would be a gross understatement to assert that prior writing experience has proven to me that "the pen" is mightier than "the sword."
In essence, my aspirations as a writer flow from my experience as an African-American Studies Professor whose areas of expertise include areas as diverse as class warfare, African-American culture, political insurgency, and racial matters. Experience has taught me to utilize every genre of writing to communicate my message. It is this desire to communicate with readers that I, an academically trained historian, have created a fictional character "Foolish" Floyd to communicate with audiences who seek a less "dense" and more entertaining form of penmanship.
As a freelance writer, I have been able to publish pieces in a wide array of mediums ranging from academic journals, magazines, and newspapers as a featured columnist for on-line and print periodicals.
I am open to any opportunities that involve writing about poor and working-class Americans, as well as the historical and on-going struggle of African-Americans. You will find that at the center of my writings is an unyielding and inextinguishable hope to make the world that we live in a better place for all.
