Dessel is, to say the least, an interesting professor. He lectures like a silent film, cracks jokes like Peter Griffin, and makes some pretty challenging tests. Just get ready to write more than a dozen 300 word essays along with reading more than 30 pages every night. Have fun!

Awful

Hardest tests I've ever had. They are highly specific and have up to 8 multiple choice alternatives to choose from. Test averages are generally around 60, there is no extra credit. Every week there are 50 page readings as well as 1 page paper due for each discussion. I do not recommend this class.

This is the worst class that I experienced. Every week you have an article that goes a lot with the 30-80 pages allocated reading. His exams are hard and AT ALL is not helped by the evaluation. His papers ' grading scale was A, C, or F and this is stated in the syllabus. The average class for the exams was 50-60% Good luck if you're taking this class.

If you plan to take this, I suggest you really show up, read actively, and participate in class. It's going to be such a fun and thought provoking experience.
