Jenell is from Los Angeles, California. She is currently an Assistant Professor of English as a Second Language at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California. She has been teaching English Composition and ESL/EFL for more than 14 years. She has lived and taught in Japan, with a focus in academic English at the university level. She has also taught freshman composition, literature, and ESL at various colleges in Southern California and Southern Arizona. Her research interests include corrective feedback in ESL/EFL writing and classroom projects that address different learning styles. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, camping, and listening to music.

I was responsible for teaching all levels of ESL in the Intensive English Program. Other experiences includes: Instructor for Reading and Writing for Academic Purposes and TOEFL Preparation courses in the Evening Program; Teacher training (online instructor) for 50-hour Beginning TEFL online course (teacher training); Student Activities Coordinator which included student worker selection and hiring, planning student and departmental activities and excursions, and community outreach. I also participated in various committees, including the Curriculum Development Committee and Best Teaching Practices Committe.
