Professor Shaeffar makes you take up around 7 hours every week just watching the lectures. Just get the book digitally to easily search up the subjects. If you're interested in geography and know a good amount about Europe, take the class. Super down-to-earth person who cared about the material. Fun and interesting course, really loved it.

Prof. Shaeffer gives 3 reading quizzes, 3 lecture quizzes, 3 map quizzes, and 6+ hours of lectures every wk for 7 weeks. Be prepared to read all 575 pages of the hard copy of the book. I wouldn't recommend this class because of the heavy workload, but grading is straightforward and quite lenient.

I took Professor Shaeffer's class for Russian Geography and US Geography. Also, I took him in fall for Latin American Geography. I absolutely love him. He's probably one of the most intelligent teachers I've ever had. In addition, he's incredibly knowledgeable about Geography, both in the knowledge of textbooks and in real life experiences. The lectures can be long at times though.
