I have been examining the role words play in creating cohesion and division for the last 16 years. At Stanford University and Aberystwyth University, my research explored the cognitive effects of politicized language, leading to the construction of bias. My research has informed my role as an educator where I bring awareness towards the power and nuances of language.
As an executive, a facilitator, and a strategist, I thrive on breaking down assumptions and biases and bringing people together.
Executive Vice President
As EVP of a college that trains coaches and counsellors, I oversaw all operations, academics, human resources, admissions, and finances. Overhauled policies, created first institutional budget, and restructured admissions and marketing using metrics-based strategies.
Professor
Taught courses in psychology, linguistics, political science, rhetoric, and research methods. Chair of Faculty Performance Review Committee, Research Ethics Board, and working group to reform Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET).
Executive Vice President
At Quest University, I served as Executive Vice President overseeing the university's Academics, Admissions, Athletics, Facilities & Operations, HR & Finance. This position provided me the opportunity to develop an innovative parental leave policy grounded in evidence, updating Quest’s vision, mission, and values through community consultation and establishing a framework for the university's first institutional assessment.
Lecturer
In 2008, I helped to launch Aberystwyth University’s psychology department. As a founding member, I was involved with accreditations, degree validations, establishing the undergraduate curriculum, e-learning, employability for students, work experience program and recruitment of faculty and staff.
