  • Laser Induced Nitrogen Enhanced Titanium Surfaces for Improved Osseo-I

    The osseo-integration

    corrosion resistance

and tribological properties of the commonly used bioimplant alloy Ti-6Al-4V were enhanced using a laser-based surface nitridation process. The biomedical properties of the laser nitrided Ti-6Al-4V were investigated using experimental and computational methodologies. Electrochemical analysis of laser nitrided titanium in simulated body fluid (SBF) was performed to assess the biomedical characteristics in near-human body conditions.

One-dimensional multipulse laser machining of structural alumina: evol

The development and understanding of laser-material interactions have steered to the machining of advanced structural ceramics. At one point

it was nearly impossible to machine effectively using various conventional machining techniques. Nevertheless

achieving a higher material removal rate along with a good surface finish is a critical issue.

One-dimensional multipulse laser machining of structural alumina: evolution of surface topography

Evolution of surface topography in one-dimensional laser machining of structural alumina

High energy lasers are an emerging industrial tool to fabricate complex shapes on hard and brittle structural ceramics such as alumina. The selection of laser processing parameters and the prediction of material removal rates during the laser machining are the critical issues.
