Bremenstuhl
Heather Bremenstuhl’s diverse professional experience spans the disciplinary boundaries of design and social science. Having earned a B.A. in Architecture from Lehigh University
she worked for over five years in architectural firms in New York
Philadelphia and Los Angeles. As a designer
she focused on large-scale international public parks—such as New Songdo City Central Park—that reflect the culture and history of the region while highlighting the dynamic and reciprocal influences between art
culture and society. Her work as a designer reflects her philosophy that art and design are an integral part of a community’s fabric
which impact how individuals interact with their environment and one another.\n\nHeather’s practice as a designer is complimented by over nine years experience in faculty
research
and administrative roles within higher education. Having completed graduate work in Sociology at Northwestern University and the University of Arizona
she continues to hold a strong interest in cultural diversity
inequality and inclusion
and the reciprocal influence between art and social life. As a faculty member she has worked with students from diverse backgrounds and designed and taught freshman seminar and survey courses as well as upper division courses in Cultural Anthropology
Gender Roles
Marriage & Family
and Social Problems. As a researcher
she has knowledge and experience with qualitative and quantitative research design and methodology including survey design
interviews
ethnography
content analysis
and statistical analysis. Throughout her experience in higher education
she has taken an active leadership role
collaborating with colleagues and senior leadership to conduct research
manage projects
organize student groups
plan events
and draft proposals to improve institutional policy and programs.
