Professor Gelfand is an excellent choice for any subject. Although it seems to be a lot at first, breaking down the readings made it a relatively simple lesson. You will get an A if you attend class, are prepared, participate, and submit your work on time. He's eccentric, but this class teaches you a lot.

Professor Gelfand makes the lazy want to learn and that is a skill. He seems a bit intimidating during the first week but he's really not. Also, he cares about getting his students to think critically. He's very knowledgeable on every topic that we discussed, every class was intriguing. Honestly, those poor reviews come from students who gave up on the class before they knew him. So just stick with him. Overall, I highly recommend his class.

This professor scared me at first because he was so straight-up and acted like he knew it all. But as time went on, I started to like him. He's very smart about the topic that it's mind-blowing. He makes you seriously think about what you're learning. There aren't any tests but be prepared for surprise quizzes on the long reading assignments. I was always excited to go to class.
