Broadly, my research focuses on language as an overt expression of cognitive behavior in different contexts. Specifically, I have focused more recently on predictors of human resilience as evidenced in language people use to describe their memories, while maintaining an active research program in the area of trust and deception as evidenced in language.

I am currently Chair of the Department of Psychology and Political Science at Eastern New Mexico University. I previously worked at Winston-Salem State University as the first Chair of the Department of Psychological Sciences at that institution.
