After 2 and half years as the Bioinformatics Supervisor at UNH-HCGS , I accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Biology at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU)in Laredo Texas. A medium sized, dynamically growing teaching /research university. Since then, I established a brand new Molecular Biology Laboratory with a start up fund of $185,000. The Lab is operational as of January 2018.
While the lab was under renovation and being furnished with research equipment, I developed two proposals:
The first proposal won my first internal grant [$10,000].
My second proposal was selected to be one of two MRI proposals to be sent to NSF representing the institutional grant from TAMIU.
Assistant Professor Of Biology
Just finished setting up lab. Two Initial research fields I am focusing on are:
1. Entomopathogenic Nematodes as Biological control agents
Photorhabdus, Xenorhabdius and Serratia spp.
2. Algae as bio fuel alternatives.
Synecoococcus elongatus and Chlorella vulgaris.
