I am a self-motivated, energetic, and thoughtful learner and teacher. I strive to use collective talents and abilities to improve K-12 education and teacher training, making it better than it already is.
Doctoral student
I completed my PhD in Curriculum, Teaching and Educational Policy in May 2014. During my time at MSU, I taught undergraduate and graduate teacher education course (online and face-to-face). My research interests include teacher professional development, pre-service teacher training, teaching with technology and literacy.
Assistant Professor
As an assistant professor of literacy studies at GVSU, I work with pre-service and in-service teachers and teach undergraduate and graduate education courses. I am also actively involved in a variety of research projects, including a focus on teacher leadership in Detroit-area charter schools, the use of 1:1 devices in K-12 schools, using technology to teach literacy, and pre-service teacher learning and development.

I taught 9-12 English Language and Literature at Zeeland East and West High Schools. I was actively involved in school improvement, curriculum development, school safety, and professional development initiatives.
