Flagstaff, Arizona Area
I am a commercial photographer working for international clients and recently appointed assistant professor of practice at Northern Arizona University. I am also a trained visual anthropologist, MA (USC 2010).
SPECIALITIES:
Locations. Portraits, Industry and Lifestyle. Celebrities and CEO's. Conceptual direction. Cultural landscapes. Storytelling.
WHAT I DO:
I tell stories of cultural importance and of human interest finding an outlet in commercial and editorial photography. With a curious sense of observation and interest in people; in the "little guy," and with positivity and humor I bring understanding in my images. I get to give back to the community with my service as a professor of photography and photojournalism.
WHO I DO IT FOR:
For clients like you, who need to tell stories of places and the people that inhabit, work and play in them. You are actively working on the most important things in the world to you, and need to communicate your passion visually.
WHY I DO IT:
Sometimes I get to reveal joy and spirit and to occasionally give a voice to the voiceless. I sometimes get to discover something beautiful, just beneath the surface and see what that looks like. What connects me to my essence? Photography and its endless act of discovery.
FUN FACT:
I hiked for days in the Carpathian mountains to find a witch doctor. I found him. The family of my Ukrainian assistant believes that he put a spell on her (or broke a bad one), as his words seemed to work a magic and change her life (for the better) forever.
