My research concentrates on the discovery and development of enzymes and non-catalytic proteins that tune and functionalize main biopolymers of plant biomass, thereby creating sustainable pathways to novel bio-based materials from renewable plant sources.
Associate Professor
The primary objective of my research is to develop enzymes and reaction conditions that promote the synthesis of high-value chemicals and polymers from renewable plant biomass.

Assistant Professor
My research program at UofT applies genomic and proteomic technologies to elucidate the biochemical activities that direct the synthesis and degradation of plant biomass. The primary objective of my research is to develop enzymes and reaction conditions for plant fibre engineering and the production value-added co-products from biomass.
