Awesome
I took BMB 241 with Professor Bernard and even though the class was very challenging to do well in, he prepares you for everything that you need to know. If you don't do well in this class, then it's your own fault for not studying enough or listening. He gives time to ask him questions for exam days and he responds almost immediately to emails.
Awesome
Microbio is hard, but Professor Bernard gives so many outside sources or extra credit. It's hard to fail unless you just don't do the work. He was always willing to meet in his office hours, even at the last second and was patient when explaining. It's a flipped classroom though. So, the work outside of class is a heavy load. Hands down the best professor I've ever had.

I am currently serving as a research assistant to Dr. Seanna Annis at the University of Maine. This lab conducts research on diseases and management practices of lowbush blueberry. Research is primarily focused on combating fungal pathogens that cause economically significant losses through use of (aforementioned) management practices
fungicides
and prediction of optimal infection periods.

Lecturer
I have taught all of the General Microbiology lecture courses (and some of the lab sections) at the University of Maine for about a year and a half. This included BMB 240
Microbiology for the Professional Nurse
and BMB 300
General Microbiology. I also taught multiple sections of the corresponding labs (BMB 241 and BMB 305). Both courses consisted of over 100 students from diverse backgrounds. I have greatly enjoyed teaching Microbiology and hope to do so again in the future.
